Arrival in the running for multiple awards at the Oscars and BAFTAs
MELS is honoured to have been part of the picture for two nominations
MONTREAL, January 24, 2017 – The acclaimed sci-fi flick Arrival, directed by Denis Villeneuve and shot in and around Montreal using MELS’ facilities, has been nominated for eight Oscars and nine BAFTAs. Services provided by MELS figure in the nominations in two categories.
In the nominations for the 89th Academy Awards, announced by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences today, Arrival got the nod in eight categories: Best Picture, Directing, Writing (Adapted Screenplay), Cinematography, Production Design, Film Editing, Sound Editing, and Sound Mixing. MELS provided services in the latter category. The winners will be announced at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood on February 26, 2017.
Earlier, on January 10, the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) announced the nominations for the British Academy Film Awards and Arrival was among the leaders, with a total of nine nominations including Best Film, Best Director, Best Actress, Best Adapted Screenplay, and Best Sound. MELS is gratified by the honours for this movie to which it contributed. The BAFTAs will be awarded on February 12.
